Job Description

Metro New York - custom manufacturer and marketer of architectural glass products experiencing steady growth, is financially sound with a solid account base and modern production capabilities. We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to bring contemporary manufacturing disciplines, procedures and leadership to this department.


You will be responsible for the management and coordination of plant operations including production of custom glass, a variety of machine operations, fleet management, shop supervision, receiving, inventory management, supply chain relations, and maintenance.

Qualifications:



  • 4 year degree; business or technical field

  • 10 years of experience in hard good manufacturing with concentration in a custom manufacturing environment and 5 years of supervisory/managerial experience. Glass industry experience a definite plus

Skills and experience preferences:



  • Human resource management - experienced in recruiting/hiring/termination 

  • Technology integration and utilization of ERP products

  • Establishing key business metrics along with the appropriate measurement and monitoring systems

  • Effective scaling of operations to support doubling production

  • Employee incentive programs

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment


Essential duties:



  • Plan, organize and direct the manufacturing and installation operations ensuring the most effective utlization of assets.

  • Maintain the proper balance and efficient utilization of human and material resources to meet cost control objectives without compromising customer expectations.

  • Establish group and individual accountabilities thoughout department for problem solving and cost reduction.

  • Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact based problem solving.


Duties and responsibilities: 



  • Develop and maintain production schedule. Monitor the processes and adjust schedules as required 

  • Manage fleet of vehicles

  • Develop and maintain an effective safety procedure program and ensure that all health and safety guidlines are followed

  • Create, launch, and maintain an effective management production reporting system

  • Implement and drive continuous improvement activities through implementation of change management process and best practices.

    • Create and implement a cross-functional shop training program

    • Review the performance of subordinates

    • Coordinate, set-up and implement standard operating procedures for all production operations

    • Assure that production schedules are at or ahead of schedule and output is first quality.
